The Government is ‘dismantling a police service upon which other countries have built their own models’ the chairman of Greater Manchester Police Federation said today.
Ian Hanson said officers anger at the Government is about much more than attacks to their own pay and conditions – it is about seeing ‘the finest police service in the world’ rippe...d apart in front of their eyes.
Mr Hanson was speaking as more than off duty 1,200 GMP officers joined some 35,000 colleagues from across the country in a protest march in London against the Government’s attacks to policing.
‘Listen to us before it is too late,’ said Mr Hanson.
‘Although the potential impact of these proposals upon our pay and conditions cannot be understated, this naked ideology goes much further than simply taking money out of the pockets of those who put themselves in danger on a daily basis and to ensure that our communities are safe.
